Minibus Hire Across France

Cannes by Minibus, from La Croisette to Grasse

Cannes is compact, polished and strict with big coaches. For weddings, birthday weekends and small festival parties, a minibus or car with a driver is often the easier way between hotels, the Palais des Festivals and the hills behind the coast.

Why smaller works in Cannes

A municipal order has banned Euro IV and older tourist coaches from the whole commune since October 2023. Coaches must follow a set route from A8 exits 41 and 42, keep out of the rapid-bus lanes and stay off La Croisette and the other seafront roads, unless they are authorised to drop off or collect passengers there.

The roads through the Croix des Gardes are closed to coaches, but vehicles with 20 seats or fewer may use them. If your villa or reception is up there, a minibus is the obvious choice.

The port and the islands

Boats for the Îles de Lérins leave from Quai Laubeuf and take 15 to 20 minutes. The Laubeuf coach park beside them is closed for renovation in October 2026, so settle the pick-up point with your driver beforehand.

Le Suquet, the old quarter above the port, is a lovely walk, and the tourist office takes group bookings for its museum. Leave time, too, for the photo everyone wants on the red-carpet steps of the Palais.

Arriving by cruise ship

Into the hills, along the coast

Mougins is about 15 minutes away, Grasse and its perfume houses about 30, Saint-Paul-de-Vence about 35. Saint-Tropez makes a longer outing at about an hour and a half, and the Gorges du Verdon a full day at about two hours each way.

Arriving in Cannes

Nice Côte d'Azur airport is about 29 km away, 35 to 40 minutes in light traffic. The station is about six minutes' walk from the Palais des Festivals, with TGVs from Paris. The A8 is tolled, with a barrier at Antibes between Cannes and Nice.

Your questions, answered

Does Cannes have a low-emission zone?

Not as of October 2026; it lies beyond the edge of the Nice zone. Still, the ban on Euro IV and older coaches covers the entire commune, so check the rules before travel.

When is the Festival de Cannes?

In May, in the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière at the Palais des Festivals. Book transport early for that month.

Can a vehicle stop on La Croisette outside our hotel?

Only to set down or pick up, and only with authorisation. The engine goes off while stopped, and the vehicle then moves on.

Can we reach Monaco for the evening?

It is about an hour away by road, so dinner there and back is quite manageable for a small group.
