Marseille airport minibus pickups for Provence holidays
Marseille Provence, at Marignane, is about half an hour from the Vieux-Port in light traffic. Whether you are bound for the city, Aix or a farmhouse in the Luberon, the pickup starts the same way.
A coach park booked a week ahead
Pre-booked group vehicles do not use the airport coach station, which is kept for regular bus lines. Instead they use a coach park next door, the Parc Croisiéristes. A space there must be asked for a week or more in advance, so book your transfer early enough for the operator to apply.
The airport also runs a group welcome service: it arranges for your vehicle to park opposite Terminal 1, and porters can wheel your cases between the vehicle and check-in. On the way home, with cases of rosé and a few olive-wood bowls, that help is worth asking about.

Two terminals, one meeting point
It takes around six minutes to walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. When your party lands on two flights, gather at Terminal 1, near where group vehicles park.
Cars with driver need an airport authorisation, carry only pre-booked clients and use either the Dépose Express lane or car parks PA and PB. Space there is not assured, so allow a few minutes' slack.
The terminals
- Terminal 2
- Terminal 1
Handy to know at Aéroport Marseille Provence
- Coaches and minibuses entering a French low-emission zone (ZFE-m) need a Crit'Air sticker; check the current Marseille rules before travel.
- In the Dépose Express the first 8 minutes are free, and in the PA Minute, PB Minute and P2 Minute car parks the first 15 minutes; charges apply after that.
- The taxi rank is in front of Terminal 1.
- Bus line A1 runs to Marseille Saint-Charles railway station.
- A shuttle bus of about 5 minutes links the airport (coach station bay 5) with Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence railway station, every day of the year; up to 73 regional (TER) trains a day stop there.
- The two terminals are about 6 minutes apart on foot.
Reaching the city
By road the Vieux-Port is roughly 26 km away. Since a municipal order of 14 November 2025, tourist coaches may not use the streets of Le Panier or the north side of the Vieux-Port, so a hotel there can mean a short walk from an official set-down point. Your quote will say where.
In the centre, Marseille's low-emission zone covers all vehicles day and night, barring Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified ones. It is in force now, though that may not last, so check the vehicle's sticker before you go.
Cassis, Aix and the villages
Aix-en-Provence is about 31 km from Marseille; the Luberon, Les Baux-de-Provence and Saint-Rémy are each a good day out. For Cassis, note that from 1 May to 15 October vehicles over 3.5 tonnes may not enter the town centre. Coaches set down at the Gorguettes area, and a little tourist train runs into town.
Your questions, answered
Is there a train from the airport?
A shuttle bus of about five minutes connects the airport to Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence railway station, where TER trains stop, while bus line A1 goes to Marseille Saint-Charles. With bags and a group, a minibus is more direct.
How far ahead should we book?
The coach park must be requested at least seven days before, so a week is the minimum for a group vehicle. More notice gives everyone breathing room.
Can we stop for groceries on the way to the villa?
Usually, yes. Mention it when you book so the stop is in the plan and the driver's day allows for it.
