Ashore in Cannes, then Inland or Along the Coast
Cruise passengers reach Cannes by tender, stepping onto the quay at the Vieux-Port gare maritime beside the Palais des Festivals. La Croisette and Le Suquet are a short walk away, so a minibus earns its place once your group wants to go further.
A quieter port by design
Cannes has chosen fewer cruise visitors. Since 2026 the daily limit is 6,000 passengers landing, and only one large ship per day may anchor in the bay. The biggest vessels, those carrying over 3,000 people, get 34 calls in 2026 and 31 the following year, and by 2030 the town wants no ship bigger than 1,300 passengers.
For your party, that puts a ceiling on how many people come ashore on the same day as you.

Cannes keeps big coaches on a short lead
A municipal order keeps any tourist coach built to Euro IV or an earlier standard out of the commune entirely, fixes the routes coaches must take from motorway exits 41 and 42, and keeps coaches off La Croisette and the other seafront roads except for authorised set-down. The Laubeuf coach park is closed for renovation.
Smaller vehicles fare better here: one with no more than 20 seats may take the Croix des Gardes roads, which coaches cannot. Your exact pickup spot is fixed in the booking with those rules in mind.
The cruise terminals
- Gare maritime of the Vieux-Port, Promenade de la Pantiero, beside the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès
- Tender port: cruise ships anchor in the bay and passengers come ashore by tender at the Vieux-Port
Where to go with a day ashore
Distances from Cannes are modest. Mougins sits just 8 km or so inland. Antibes is roughly 11 km along the coast, Grasse some 20 km uphill, and Saint-Paul-de-Vence around 28 km, 35 minutes in light traffic.
Monaco is about an hour along the A8, a tolled motorway with the Antibes barrier on the way. Boats to the Lérins islands go from Quai Laubeuf, close to the Palais des Festivals, so that outing needs no vehicle.
Your questions, answered
Is there a Crit'Air zone in Cannes?
Not as of October 2026. Cannes lies beyond the Nice zone and has not created one. The coach order still applies, so the vehicle is checked against it.
How far is Nice airport?
Count on roughly 29 km, or 35 to 40 minutes in light traffic, which helps if some of the group fly home straight after the cruise.
Can we be picked up right at the gare maritime?
The meeting point depends on the seafront restrictions and is confirmed when you book. It will be a short walk from where the tenders land.
Is a minibus enough for twelve of us?
Yes. A minibus seats up to sixteen passengers, with some room for bags when the group travels light.
