Cruise Calls and Transfers by Minibus
Four French ports, each with its own routine: Marseille and Le Havre, where ships berth at a terminal, and Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cannes, where you come ashore by tender. Each page explains where your vehicle can meet you.
Tender ports need a little slack
At Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cannes, ships anchor in the bay and tenders bring everyone ashore, so a group can land in several boatloads. Build that into the pickup time. From Villefranche, Place Masséna in Nice is only about 7 km away and Monaco about 15 km, which makes a coastal shore day easy to plan. Cannes limits cruise arrivals to 6,000 passengers a day.
Marseille and Le Havre
In Marseille, the terminals reached through Gate 4 sit about 6 km from the centre, ringed by motorway, so nobody walks out; Terminal J4 is right beside the Vieux-Port. Le Havre is the Paris port of call: central Paris is about 197 km away, roughly 2 h 25 min in light traffic, which makes a Paris day from the ship a long one.
Your questions, answered
Which details does a cruise transfer need?
Your ship, the date of the call, your time ashore or your embarkation time, the number travelling and where you are heading.
Can we book a shore excursion rather than a transfer?
Yes. A minibus for the day can take your group along the coast or inland and back to the quay before all-aboard.
How much luggage fits in a minibus?
Less than you might think once every seat is filled. With cruise cases for a full group, a bigger vehicle or a car alongside may be needed, so tell us how many bags.
