Minibus Hire Across France

From Le Havre's Quay to Paris, or Somewhere Closer

Ships list Le Havre as their Paris call, yet the capital sits about 197 km away by road. With a minibus and driver for your own party, you choose how to spend the day: a long run to Paris, or something unhurried nearer the coast.

Paris in a day: do the sums

The drive takes about 2 h 25 min each way in light traffic, longer at busy times. That is nearly five hours on the road, so with a ship sailing in the early evening, Paris becomes an afternoon rather than a day.

Drivers work to EU rules: no more than 9 hours at the wheel in a day and a 45-minute pause once 4.5 hours of driving are done. A Paris round trip fits, though a slow return eats into your margin before all-aboard.

How Paris handles group vehicles

In the city a group vehicle halts only while people get on or off, with the engine switched off, and coaches need a parking pass to park at all. Older coaches are barred from the low-emission zone inside the A86 between 08:00 and 20:00, and every coach or minibus needs a Crit'Air sticker.

In the 1st to 4th arrondissements, only journeys that begin or end inside the limited-traffic zone are allowed. So your driver drops you at agreed points and collects you later.

Cruise lines you may be sailing with

The cruise terminals

  • River cruises use a separate quay, Quai de Marseille - Quai des Antilles, about 15 minutes on foot from the city centre
  • Facilities: tourist information point, check-in counters, baggage control and storage, baggage scanner, customs and border police office, lounge, shop, car and bicycle hire, free Wi-Fi, toilets and a defibrillator
  • Cruise quays: Quai Pierre Callet and Quai Roger Meunier
  • Terminal Croisière de la Pointe de Floride, Quai Roger Meunier, Le Havre, for ships in transit and for turnaround calls

Closer to the ship

Rouen and Giverny both lie towards Paris and cut the driving a good deal. At Giverny, Monet's house and gardens open from spring to early November, groups of 20 or more must book, and coaches park at the Parking de la Prairie, about five minutes' walk from the group entrance; setting down on the road is not allowed.

Joining or leaving a cruise here

The Pointe de Floride terminal on Quai Roger Meunier handles turnaround calls as well as ships in transit. The railway station, served by trains from Paris Saint-Lazare, is roughly 2.5 km away, so a party arriving by rail needs only a short hop.

River cruises have their own berth on Quai de Marseille – Quai des Antilles, so please tell us which kind of ship you are on.

Your questions, answered

Which airport is nearest to Le Havre?

By distance, Paris-Beauvais at about 175 km. Orly (about 210 km) and Charles de Gaulle (about 220 km) are only a few minutes further in light traffic, so pick the one your flights use.

Can the minibus wait outside the museums in Paris?

Not on the street. The driver sets you down, moves off, and comes back at the time and place you agreed.

Is there a shuttle into Le Havre itself?

Yes, a taxi rank and shuttles link the terminal with the centre. Your own minibus matters most for longer outings.
